Jonah is probably thought of by most of us as the slightly tarnished hero of a really dramatic Bible story. He is the man who ran away from God, was swallowed by a whale and, after three days inside the beast, was thrown up on dry land; whereupon he obeyed God, preached to the people of Nineveh and saw them repent of their sins in sackcloth and ashes. From this, we learned two great lessons. The first was that when God tells us to do something, we are to do as we are told. We are not
